The Macy Ranch in Post, Texas hosted our first Cattle Baron's Ball in 1983. During its twenty-five year history, the ball has become the premier and largest single event fundraiser on the South Plains and one of the largest in Texas with annual attendance exceeding 1,500 persons. The Cattle Baron's Ball is the most anticipated, talked-about, FUNd raising event of its kind. Each year the Chairmen select a theme and create an event that continues to draw attention in the search for the cure.
The Lubbock Cattle Baron's Ball has raised over four million dollars to fund cancer research, education, and support programs. This research has led to life-saving information and state-of-the-art technology needed to come closer to the cure. Education has brought more awareness to the issue, and support services have made for a better life for patients, survivors, and their families. You, our Cattle Baron's patrons, are saving lives.
This year will mark the 26th year of the Lubbock Cattle Baron's Ball and we are excited that the Ball will happen once again at the legendary V-8 Ranch. The entertainment will include a nationally known award-winning headliner plus a toe-taping dance band. It's a fantastic setting for an innovative western party that is truly a Texas Tradition.
We believe the fight against cancer is a cause worth supporting. Today there is more hope than ever, but funding is still needed. Cancer is a disease that unfortunately touches most lives -- either personally or through a friend or family member. Thanks both to the guidance and commitment of our past Ball Chairmen, the dedication of the 2008 Cattle Baron's Ball Committee, and you our generous supporters, we will attain our goal of $400,000 in 2008 to fund the fight against cancer.
We hope to see you August 16, 2008 at the Cattle Baron's Ball!
2008 Cattle Baron's Ball Chairmen
January 6, 2008
On behalf of the American Cancer Society Board Of Directors, we extend an enthusiastic invitation to the 26th annual
Cattle Baron’s Ball on Saturday, August 16 at the V-8 Ranch. This year’s Ball promises to be one of the
most memorable ever, thanks to the efforts of Chairmen Bill and Kay Young and their committee.
The Ball is a very entertaining event with a very serious purpose – to raise money to support the
American Cancer Society. The American Cancer Society, in turn, funds cancer research, patient services,
education and screening. All of us have been affected by cancer.
We must, and we will, find a cure for cancer. In the meantime, the battle against cancer continues.
It is a battle we are going to win thanks to your efforts and your generous contributions.
Thanks, Bill and Kay for your countless hours of work
in preparation for this year’s event.
Sincerely,
Chairman
President
